Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway

Over a century in the making, Exbury’s glorious gardens, designed and curated by the de Rothschild family have the power to delight and inspire in equal measure.  A spectacular collection of landscaped woodland, herbaceous, contemporary and formal gardens provide an ever-changing palette of colour that will entice you back to witness the season unfold.

Inspire a love of the outdoors in children of all ages as they explore our gardens, play area and new log trail.  And when little legs need a rest from all that activity, travel by steam train to Dragonfly Pond in search of dragonflies and damsel flies.  Exbury’s exciting programme of events – both entertaining and educational – provides further opportunities for the whole family to get closer to nature.

For 2022, we welcome award-winning local caterers, the Little Kitchen Company to Exbury.  Enjoy hot meals, sandwiches, daily deli counter specials, cakes and ice cream, as well as barista coffee, soft drinks, smoothies, milkshakes, wines, beer and cider.  Mr Eddy’s restaurant and the Old Tennis Courts outdoor café will be offering delicious fare to suit all tastes and appetites, complemented by our Rhodo Pizza takeaway and vegan and gluten-free specialists, VGF’s.

Our new gift shop stocks a wide range of books, homeware, gardening gifts and souvenirs inspired by the gardens, their history and their wildlife.  For children, you’ll find imaginative ideas for rainy day activities and outdoor adventures alike.

The Plant Centre stocks an array of herbaceous plants, shrubs and, of course, rhododendrons and azaleas, reflecting the seasons at Exbury.  You’ll find both familiar names and a selection of rare and unusual varieties, allowing you to plant a growing memento of your visit.
